Real Typographers Cast their own type

I found this on ilovetypography.com

It's on the long side, but fascinating none the less.

This is how type was done in the age of the dinosaurs. Notice how at the end, the computer is edging its way in. Technology triumphs again!
It's not that much longer until Skynet will be setting type.

Enjoy.

Which Presidential Candidate has better videogames?

McCain has an interesting section on his official website with a playable version of "Space Invaders"
The name is changed to "Pork Invaders" and you play as the McCain spaceship (campaign poster?) and get to shoot Vetoes at Piggy banks.

AWESOME!

Obama has no such cool videogames.

This very well could be the deciding issue of the election.

To play the game, go here > http://www.johnmccain.com/videogame/invaders/

5 Super Mega Cool photoshop tutorial sites

So, I haven't posted in a while . . . I've been distracted by the internet.
It's a pretty big place with lots of cool things.
Here are some of the sites I've been browsing lately.

All of these are great for inspiration and tutorials.

1. PSD TUTS:
This site is awesome, it assumes that we're all stupid and don't know anything about Photohop, (which is true) so the step-by-step instructions are really clear.

www.psdtuts.com

2. abduzeedo:
Great designs, great ideas, and cool site layout.

www.abduzeedo.com

3. tutorial9:
Most of the tutorials are pretty easy and fast but the results look great.
(so you have more time to be lazy)

www.tutorial9.net

4. Tutorial Blog:
The site layout is not as cool as the other ones, but the content is pretty good.

www.tutorialblog.org

5. bitbox:
Sweet, sweet photoshop and illustrator hints and tips, free textures, brushes, and fonts.
ROCK ON

Crackheads on CNBC

CNBC's show, The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch featured Crackheads Candy yesterday.
Also, on the website (http://www.cnbc.com/id/15838512), you can see the new package design along with other information about the candy.
Don't forget to vote if you think Crackheads are a million dollar idea!

Here's a screen grab of the web page, I'll try to track down one of the actual show.

Here's a poster design I did for a Wash U dance team . . . If you're in the area, you should go to
the event. It should be a delightful musical and dance-a-cal evening.

Recent Illustrations

Here's the latest batch . . . they are illustrations for a magazine article.
there are two more illustrations for this project,
They will be up soon.

The article is about lax fire safety policies at Nuclear Power Plants;
and how the industry relies on manual shut down procedures instead of auto shut off
mechanisms in the event of fires.

Latest Work, Website Update

Three things . . . firstly, I updated my website. It looks more better now. It's over at www.mjmurdock.com
Secondly, an Illustration project of

Aesop's Fables

A HEIFER saw an Ox hard at work harnessed to a plow, and tormented him with reflections on his unhappy fate in being compelled to labor. Shortly afterwards, at the harvest festival, the owner released the Ox from his yoke, but bound the Heifer with cords and led him away to the altar to be slain in honor of the occasion. The Ox saw what was being done, and said with a smile to the Heifer: "For this you were allowed to live in idleness, because you were presently to be sacrificed."

Thirdly, I created an imaginary grunge rock band called GRUNGE OX. Support the fake band by downloading the below image.
